BOSTON — Coming off a 3-0 weekend at the Cornell Invitational, the Hartford volleyball team nearly swept the America East weekly awards, claiming three of the four honors on Tuesday.
For the second time in as many weeks — and the fifth time in her career — senior middle blocker Jenna Bridges took home Player of the Week honors. Junior setter Megan Anderson was awarded Setter of the Week for the fourth time in her career, while freshman Maddie Lindsay was named the league’s Rookie of the Week.
After taking down Niagara and Youngstown State in three sets, the Hawks won the Cornell Invitational in dramatic fashion, knocking off previously undefeated and host-team Cornell in five sets in the final match. In addition, the trio anchored a Hartford offense that hit .249 on the weekend, while holding its opponents to a .149 hitting percentage.
