The Utah DOT (UDOT) recently announced its top construction projects for 2020, which are selected for their regional significance, level of community interest, and benefit to state residents.
UDOT has more than 220 construction projects statewide that are currently in progress or scheduled to start this year, with a combined investment of nearly $3.3 billion.
This year’s No. 1 project is a reconstruction and widening of U.S. 89 between Farmington and I-84. Crews will add a new lane in both directions and replace all of the existing intersections with four new interchanges and two underpasses along a 9.5-mile section of the highway.
Due to the essential nature of building and maintaining the state’s transportation system, UDOT says it is committed to keeping its operations moving forward during the COVID-19 pandemic. UDOT says its ongoing social distancing efforts for crews in the field, the outdoor environment in which much of the department’s work takes place, and other proactive controls the department is implementing will help ensure a safe workplace and reduce the impact of COVID-19 on its employees and operations.
