LEHI, Utah (KUTV) — Two teenage boys face misdemeanor charges, accused of starting the Traverse Fire in Lehi, which threatened dozens of homes and caused evacuations in the early morning hours of June 28.
Melanie Hansen, spokesperson for Lehi City, said the boys are charged with reckless burning, possession of illegal fireworks, and lighting off a firework in a restricted area. All are misdemeanors. According to state code, some of the charges could result in fines.
Hansen declined to give more information about the teens because of their ages. She said they are about 16 years old and not from Lehi.
Without names of the teens, juvenile court records cannot be accessed in this case.
