A traffic stop in Utah County led investigators to arrest several people after discovering a vehicle theft ring.

On Nov. 4, a deputy with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on State Road 68, just north of Elberta. The vehicle was a pickup towing a trailer that didn’t have working taillights.

During the stop, the deputy learned that the 44-year-old driver, Tyler Ferguson, of Salt Lake City, had a revoked driver’s license. Restrictions on his license require him to have an ignition interlock installed on any vehicle he drivers and restricts him from driving with any amount of alcohol in his body. The deputy reported that Ferguson had consumed alcohol and there was no interlock device installed in the truck.
