REGION 9 VOLLEYBALL: Thunder sweep Mustangs; Warriors, Flyers and Reds also win

Nine volleyball action Thursday night, Desert Hills continued winning for the sixth straight time (five in the league) and Pine View nearly won its first match. Crimson Cliffs dropped its second straight against tough opponents to drop into fourth place. And Dixie and Snow Canyon won to remain tied for second place.

The Thunder got tested but prevailed, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23, going into this weekend’s Rocky Mountain Tournament at Lehi. The Mustangs had jumped out to a 3-0 record in the region but have a chance to rebound by closing out the first half of league play by facing three teams in the second division. Desert Hills still has to play Dixie in first-half action before starting the second half at Snow Canyon.

Kate Ohlsen led the Mustangs with four service aces and 13 assists. Riann Gines and Charity Elam had eight and seven kills respectively. Madeline Wallentine had 22 digs.
