Fans of desert courses need more than 14 clubs and a handful of golf balls when they play the top-rated public-access course in Utah. At Sand Hollow Resort’s Championship Course, as at many courses in the state, they also need a camera.
The Championship Course in Hurricane, not far from St. George in the southwest corner of Utah, blasts players with ridiculous views from holes perched among red rock formations and atop cliff edges not far from Zion National Park, Red Cliffs National Conservation Area and the snow-capped Pine Valley Mountains.
Golfweek ranks courses by compiling the average ratings – on a points basis of 1 to 10 – of its more than 750 raters to create several industry-leading lists of courses. That includes the popular Best Courses You Can Play list for courses that allow non-member tee times. These generally are defined as courses accessible to resort guests or regular daily-fee players.
