SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Utah reported 19 new Utah residents killed by COVID-19 Tuesday, 12 men and seven woman than included young and old alike.
After only three deaths reported Monday, Tuesday’s totals may be impacted as the state’s process for investigating and declaring deaths was possibly interrupted by the Thanksgiving holiday. The state has now lost 890 people to the highly-contagious virus in a global pandemic that has killed 1.4 million people around the globe. During much of the pandemic, Utah didn’t suffer 19 deaths in a week and there was speculation that the total death count would be under 100 for the state.
Hospitalizations in the state’s taxed healthcare system now stands at 575 people. Health officials and workers have warned that the ability to give the sick the best possible care was compromised or nearly compromised.
